What is the Roma Educational Centre ?

The Roma Educational Centre citizens association is a
non-party, non-governmental and non-profit-making Citizens' Association with the mission of "the inclusion of the Roma population in the local enviroments on the territory of the Republic of Serbia", aimed at Roma capacity building, improving their living conditions and active incorporation into integrative social processes.

Goals of the Roma Educational Centre

In realizing its goals, the Roma Educational Centre will work particularly to:

- encourage and support the Roma community to participate actively in social processes

- organize scientific conferences, conventions, seminars and other training forms in this area, independently or in co-operation with organizations

- publish books and other periodicals, in accordance with the relevant Law

- employ scientists and experts to work on scientific, expert and research project from the domain of Roma community development

- co-operate with universities, expert associations and other national and national organisations working to the Roma community development programmes

- co-operate with national and international organizations

- organize health and enviroment protection actions and work on awareness building in the area of living culture in Roma communities, in co-operation with relevant official bodies

- advocate the respect of standards and implementation of national, European and international documents pertaning to respect for human, women's and children's rights

- initiate and affirm setting up enterprises, co-operatives, institutions and other programmes aimed at economic empowerment and poverty reduction, in accordance with our goals

- foster the cultural value of ethnic communities

- organise humanitarian actions, in accordance with the relevant Law .
